About Me

Service to the Pilots of APA

As a long-time dedicated APA volunteer, I am committed to serving the membership.  For nearly a decade I have served in various capacities on the IT Steering Committee, leading the upgrade of critical systems and infrastructure, along with implementing forward-looking, cost-cutting measures all while ensuring APA members and support staff were provided access to industry-leading, best-in-class tools and applications that align with APA’s strategic priorities.

Some notable accomplishments during this period:

  • Web 2.0: Complete overhaul of the Allied Pilots Association website, using an expandable industry standard technology stack.

  • APA Pilot Mobile Application: Ground-up rewrite of the Mobile Application, with a focus on pilot-facing tools and user customization. This project will continue through 2025. Mobile app highlights includes:

    • Sentinel

    • Trip Info

    • MyOT

    • Papyrus

    • Commute Info

    • Logbook

    • Sequence History, etc.

  • Cyber Security Event Recovery: Led the effort to systematically recover all affected APA systems with the assistance of industry experts. Engaged the BOD and National Officers to secure the necessary hardware, software, and industry expertise to support this effort. The team successfully brought all systems back online, ensured no residual threats, and installed mitigation measures.

  • Cloud migration, business continuity: Led the multi-year effort to move from an on-premise, hardware-centric solution, to a more secure and flexible cloud-based solution.

  • Salesforce Integration: Supported the effort to identify, and implement, a customized Salesforce implementation to support our team of Contract Administrators. We continue to slowly integrate this solution across the Association to maximize our ROI.

  • Hotel Survey: Assisted the National Hotel Committee with implementing the thirty (30) second survey. We now support multiple mobile survey forms to assist our committees in gaining greater data to support their work.

I have consistently sought out IT opportunities, and solutions, to assist the APA staff, Committees, Board of Directors, and National Officers in their efforts to serve the membership.

Professional History

I was hired by Trans World Airlines (TWA) in June of 1999, flying the MD80 out of STL until my first furlough in the fall of 2002. After my furlough, I flew for various corporate flight departments and fractional ownership companies until being hired by America West Airlines (AWA) in early 2005. I flew the Airbus out of LAS for AWA until my furlough in the fall of 2008.

After my second furlough, I was fortunate to find an analyst position in St. Louis, Missouri, as an Aeronautical Intelligence Analyst for the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA). During my time at NGA I was promoted multiple times and spearheaded the effort within NGA to support the EFB, culminating in the creation of the “Phaero” application which allowed Military pilots to view all DOD FLIP on iPads. After successfully taking this effort out on contract, I was recruited to move into the civilian world and was fortunate to be hired by World Wide Technology as a DOD, Intelligence Community Business Manager. In this role I was responsible for a $33 million P&L, selling IT solutions, both hardware, software, and professional services.

I remained in this role until my return to AA from furlough in the summer of 2017. At that time, I returned to STL on the MD80. Upon STL’s closing, I moved to DFW where I am now a First Officer on the Airbus.

More about me…

I grew up southeast Missouri in the town of Cape Girardeau. My father was a dentist, but also a second-generation pilot. It was time spent flying with him at an early age that I became passionate about aviation. After obtaining my PPL at 16, I attended Parks College of Saint Louis University where I graduated with honors.

I currently live in Plano, Texas, with my two children, Nolan (19) and Kinley (16). When I am not flying, or serving the pilots of American Airlines, I enjoy watching my daughter play soccer and supporting my son as he works to start his flying career.
